The Elite nuking spell doesn't have to be a gigantic nuke fest either. It could be a normal nuking spell, which has lower energy cost and is more spammable, so by it's self you can increase your output.

Something like:

(Nuking elite). Spell. For 3 seconds target foe and all nearby foes take 19-39 fire damage each second. (10/2/8)
I like your ward Idea much better. Let us remember that may nukers are mesmers and already have some sort of energy management. I don't see why the ward has to be an Elite, but if NC feels so, they should make it for balance sake. I've always thought it odd there was no nuking elite spell. They did, however, provide a nice fire nuking complimentary skill in factions (see Bed of Coals). The one thing that fire ele's lack, especially while nuking, is self protection. The ward seems to be the most feasible solution. It would have to be worded something like this:

Ward of Rogort: Create a Ward of Rogort at your current location. For 8...18 seconds, non-Spirit allies in this area have a 50% chance to evade ranged attacks. Whenever a attack is evaded in this manner, source is set on fire for 1..3 seconds.

Last I checked the idea of elementalist and nuking is a player created concept. Not ANets, if they want to make one they will.

They did.. with the orginal Guildwars.

Rember how they spoon-feed certain skill lines to you and the further along the more access you got to different skill lines. Anet rasied you on fire and didn't give a lot of the great other non-fire skills towards the 1/2 - end of the game. They did give you access to some non-fire skills .. but it the fire skill were the primary ones given to you / easy to find at first.

With Factions, they went with, let the player decide what they want to get and give them 3/4 access to all the skills very early on to what ever vein the player went down.

Leaping Flames: (Elite Hex Spell)
Target foe is set on fire for 3-5 seconds. For 15-25 seconds, anytime target foe is burning all foes adjacent to the target are dealt 7-25 fire damage each second.
<Cost: 15, Cast time: 2, Recharge: 15>
~Yay an AOE that follows the enemy and a good reason to keep someone on fire! Mark of Rodgort and bring out the ragos flame hose to keep the crowd burning.

Disintigrate: (Elite Spell)
Target foe is dealt 79-119 fire damage and loses 20 armor for 10 seconds. This spell causes exhaustion.
<Cost: 10, Cast time: 2, Recharge: 5>
~Armor loss is a powerful effect and can help an ele contend with those high AL classes like rangers and wars. The exhaustion keeps this spell from being overly spammable.

try bed of coals for your ward....works pretty good.

and use the glyph of energy for that meteor shower.....no exhaustion and only 5 energy (my guildee uses glyph of renewal and nukes meteor shower until the exhaustion is too high---or the enemy is dead).

overall, I havent found too many good elite elemental skills anyways.....

Once I saw the OP I was dismayed.

Hitting Echo/Arcane Echo + Met Shower dosn't take skill...seriously. Argo can pull it off and he's a dam NPC.

Anyhow, you all can suggest elites but remember that the mobs get to use your elites too, how else can you cap them? So when a mob does your OMGZOR (300x2) 600damage per second...remember this post.

You are my hero for the day.

though I would like to see a better fire elite I also know that trying to cap it would suck. Have you ever noticed that what ever Boss has it so does several of his/her "henches"? think of 4 npc foes casting meteor shower on you and your party. (sorry for the repition but I think the point needs to be made)

Hooray!

Summon Burning Titan{elite}
EC: 25, CT: 4, R: 90
Summon a level (...) burning titan. This titan dies after (...) seconds, and deals (...) fire damage. Whenever your titan is hit with a physical attack, the attacking foe begins Burning for 2...5 seconds. When your titan dies, all foes in the area take (...) fire damage and begin burning for (...) seconds.

im just joking with this one, but i really do like it somewhat.

Super Nova [E]
30 energy 5 casting time 60 recharge
Hex Spell. All creatures in area are struck for 300-500 fire dmg and are set on fire for 3-5 secs.
If you get killed by Super Nova, all creatures in location move 50% slower.

Aye, or Lava Font. It seems to be a design decision that fire elementalists don't really have any form of defense apart from the proverbial good offense, but they do seem to be the only elementalist source of point-blank damage-over-time area-of-effect spells, which can be a very effective way of telling harassing monsters to go away in PvE.

They don't really need to give Fire Magic any defensive spells, that is not what it is about. It won't kill you to put some points into earth Magic and bring some wards or armor buffs.

We don't need spells dealing 200-500 damage, that is just stupid. Like someone said, when you tried to cap those, the bosses will level your party in seconds.

They just need some sort of spells which is either a strong nuking spell, or a normal nuking spell which you can use more often.
